I am starting my own party. Not Republican, or Democrat in nature. I am now a Liberal Conservative. Next election will have stories about a new force that turned out at the polls. My turnout will be compared to the Christian right in '04, but they will have to acknowledge my groups shear number makes that comparison unfair. Liberal Conservatives will fight to bring unity to our nations capital. Many moderates from the both sides of the political spectrum will join the party and gladly tell the media how they have been waiting for this kind of opportunity. Straight party line votes will be a thing of the past. Honest discussion will be the key. Media groups will be thankful, because never again will they be demonized for reporting the news. We will not run on divisive issues, but instead choose to focus on whatever the REAL current issues are. We believe in working, self-sufficient families similar to what the Republicans express they are for, but we will never fail to help those in society that don't fit that picture. We know that sometimes you just need help. In a line very similar to the play Wicked, "That's why we have a government." We will help our teachers get schools back on track with a real focus on the youth, inner city and out. Aside from the basics, we want to teach them about other cultures and society, so they can be better global citizens. To those who attack us for being un-American due to our focus on global citizenship, we won't respond. America will be tired of those kind antics by then, and recognize the need to melt our concept of borders. We will finally be willing to make the sacrifices needed to reach out to the world.
I guess this is long enough. I am sorry for making a political blog, but it has been on my mind.

Boooorrrriiiinnnngggg.
You make some good points, all of which I agree with. I have, however, injured my index finger and can't type as much-- plus, Kirsten is laughing like a crazy woman over here and I'm a tad distracted. Mullets really are funny. But I promise to respond more later on.
I would love to be a part of your party - Mullis - Ferrell '08. I am waiting for the day when everyone is sick of the partisan politics. When my class was reading The Crucible, I pointed out to them how Miller was making a comment on those that persecute for their own gain, and I tried to let them see that this is relevant because it still goes on today. In reality, we have not come much further than our Puritan forefathers. They didn't get it, but I did. I feel like the world is tilted strangely on its axis and it is scary.
Friend,
I think it should be Ferrel-Mullis '08. You would be a much better prez than I. Kirsten would like to be the National Security Advisor.
JJ promised me a response, and I am still waiting.
Both of you should read Age of Anxiety. It compared the McCarthy years to today, and I found that kind of scary. It is amazing how we throw around such meaningless taunts at each other in order to hide the real issues. Don't take my word for it, I am just a rabble rouser.
I begrudgingly agreed to be Nat'l Sec. Adv. Jon told me I had to be something. I just want to have the liberty to exact punishment on people I feel are wrongdoers. I would not waste time on life in prision or waiting 30 years to get to the death chamber in jail. Punishment would be swift and exacting if I were in charge.
Kirsten as National Security Advisor? Punishment would be swift and exacting, make no mistake.
Now, Jon, the comments I promised you. I, too, am sick of politicians, whether liberal or conservative. There's a reason no one trusts them. They're like car salesmen-- always trying to sell you something. That is, I suppose, what government is about, but the issues should speak for themselves. Politicians should do what's right for the people-- not what's popular or what will get them the most votes. I believe if politicians, or the government itself, took a long, hard look at the state our nation and people are in, they'd see that, like Kirsten says, swift, decisive action needs to take place. No one wants to think to the future-- about how our current actions will hurt us and our children-- whether it's war or social security.
The other day, I was waiting for a prescription to be filled and there was this little old man who was trying to make sense of his healthcare plan under Medicaid D and the pharmacist was trying hard to help him make sense of it. I almost cried because of how unfair the situation has become. Why should this man, who has probably worked hard all his life, suddenly have to worry about whether or not he can afford necessary medicine or have to keep up with a complicated system that most people, even educated ones, have a hard time understanding? I told this story to my mom and she said that she doesn't understand what the government is doing, and she's worked in social security for over 30 years.
Anyway, for me, the most important concerns for our nation should be education and social security. Forget about threats from terrorists-- if we don't get our domestic policies in order, our nation will never be strong enough to fight anything.
If I were in charge, no one would need to worry about threats from terrorists. There would be none.
Sign me up! I completely agree with you, and it's VERY refreshing to know there's another Liberal Conservative out there. Can I make your propaganda videos? With greenscreen technology, we can make EVERY other candidate look like promiscuous crackhead child pornographers. And I can show every president from Roosevelt on patting you on the back.
